Mesothelioma Alert – Hidden Health Hazards Exposed by NBS Station, Kansas City

Mesothelioma Alert – Hidden Health Hazards Exposed by NBS Station, Kansas City

Do you what causes Mesothelioma? Mesothelioma is a dreaded disease caused by asbestiform, or more popularly known asbestos. This disease is a slow killer. The disease develops atleast 30 to 40 years after it has been contracted.

Mesothelioma Health Hazards

Close to 75 to 80% of the Mesothelioma cases state the asbestos exposure as the primary reason for contracting the disease. Do you know what it is to lead a happy life for 50 to 60 years and suddenly find yourself suffering from cancer for some reason that happened 50 years ago? In simple words that is Mesothelioma Cancer.

Asbestos Exposure and Mesothelioma

The asbestos particles inhaled stay in your body for decades together and slowly begin damaging your body and make you realize something is wrong with your health only during the advanced stages of mesothelioma. Unfortunately, in most of such cases, the time period is so long that the person suffering would have even forgotten the happening of such an event of asbestos exposure.

In certain other cases the person might not even know that he was exposed to asbestos. According to Environment Protection Agency there is as such no safe exposure limit for asbestos particles. Prevention is always better; hence one should wear proper shielding before venturing into any asbestos exposure activity.

Mesothelioma Hidden Health Hazards exposed by NBS Station, Kansas City

Out of the many efforts taken by organizations to create awareness about asbestos exposure and the resultant contraction of mesothelioma, the NBS Station in Kansas City came up with a documentary video on the ill effects of mesothelioma and risk of asbestos exposure. The video has been named as “Hidden Hazard Missed by Contractors”. The story is all about the dangers involved in removing an old popcorn ceiling, which is said to have tiny asbestos particles in it and the ill effects of inhaling such asbestos particles.

In recent times the case of second hand exposure to asbestos is on the rise. The households namely wife, children and siblings are highly exposed to the danger of asbestos exposure. Though they are not directly subjected to asbestos exposure, the asbestos particles carried in the clothes of the individual visiting such places poses a serious health hazard.

In short, it is high time to be careful about the disease and the consequent threats in human life.

Mesothelioma Injury Texas

Mesothelioma Injury Texas

The mesothelium is a protective lining which covers the internal organs. In Mesothelioma, malignant cells are formed on this lining. In most cases, the pleura (the outer lining of the lungs and chest cavity) are affected. However, Mesothelioma on the peritoneum (the lining of the abdominal cavity) or the pericardium (the sac surrounding the heart) also occurs. Thus, malignant Mesothelioma cancer is in three main categories based on the organ the mesothelium attacks: Peritoneal Mesothelioma, Pleural Mesothelioma and Pericardial Mesothelioma.

In spite of being a rare disease, cases of malignant Mesothelioma currently average 7 to 40 per 1,000,000 people in industrialized, Western nations. Awareness is being built up to prevent exposure to asbestos. Mesothelioma occurs more often in men than in women and the likelihood if being diagnosed increases with age, but this disease can appear in men or women at any age. Approximately a fifth to a third of all Mesothelioma is Peritoneal.

Texas Mesothelioma

Texas is famous for industries like domestic oil and houses companies like Shell, Gulf and Mobil. However, this industry is one of the hardest hit with respect to asbestos usage and its exposure to the workers. Millions of employees have been exposed to the toxic mineral over the last 100 years. Also, Texas has a mix of rural areas as well as large cities and the cases of Mesothelioma have been found in both parts of the state. In 1999, there were 125 reported deaths from Mesothelioma which is quite a large number for a single state. There have been deaths in Texas from asbestosis and other respiratory problems due to asbestos exposure.

Along with the petroleum industries, Texas also has industries like shipyards and ship construction that use asbestos extensively. Until the 1980s, it was used as in insulation for many building materials as well as in the electrical power and chemical industries. Due to these industries, the number of asbestos related illness and deaths is quite high in the area. There were almost 2,800 asbestos-related deaths in Texas between 1979 and 1999 with half of the deaths due to asbestosis and the other half due to Mesothelioma. Areas like Harris County, Jefferson County and Dallas County had the most deaths. This made Texas 7th in terms of Mesothelioma cases in the United States. Though regulations have been set up for use of asbestos and its exposure, there are still cases of this disease due to its late latency period, which is about 30 to 40 years.

Mesothelioma Injury Lawsuits in Texas

Due to the high number of people developing this disease because of the negligence of the companies they worked in, there have been many lawsuits in Texas. Some of these cases have set precedence in the state and the entire country. One such case is that of Pustejovsky versus Rapid-American Corp. in 2000 where the Texas Supreme Court came to the decision that a person affected by asbestos could sue more than once due to the medical complications which might develop to the patients at later stage of their life.

Law firms like Mundy & Singley, L.L.P. have been extensively involved in providing justice for victims in and around Texas. They offer legal assistance to those who have been through the pain and suffering due to the negligence of their employers. Jim S. Adler & Associates are also famous Texas Mesothelioma lawyers who have been handling Mesothelioma lawsuits in Texas over a long period. There are many treatment centers in and around Texas that offer respite to victims. Though there is no cure for this disease currently, aggressive treatment through usage of radiotherapy or chemotherapy is likely to reduce and delay the spread of cancerous tissues. They can also offer better quality of life for the patients.

Mesothelioma is a deadly type of cancer that was first recognized in the 1950s in conjunction with asbestos exposure. After decades of research, doctors and scientists agree that asbestos exposure is the primary cause of mesothelioma. This cancer can arise in four different areas of your body before spreading to other areas.

Mesothelioma is a very specific form of cancer that attacks the special cells that line your body cavities and organs, called the epithelial cells. Together, epithelial cells make up the mesothelium, or the lining around an organ or inside the body cavity. The mesothelioma offers protection as well as lubrication for the organs so that they do not chafe against the inside of the body or each other.

There are four areas where epithelial cells surround your body tissue. First, they provide a lining for the lungs. If cancerous tumors arise in this mesothelium, it is called pleural mesothelioma. This can cause respiratory issues such as dry coughing, coughing up blood, painful breathing, shortness of breath, and fatigue, among other things.

Next, another conglomeration of epithelial cells is in the lining of the abdominal cavity. Mesothelioma in this area is called peritoneal mesothelioma. As tumors in the peritoneum get larger, they can cause problems like abdominal pain, fluid in the abdomen, and digestive problems. Additionally, you may have symptoms based on the organs that come into contact with the peritoneal tumors. For instance, if a tumor presses against your liver, you may develop jaundice and other issues.

Also, there are epithelial cells lining the heart, called pericardial mesothelium. Again, asbestos fibers can become lodged in this tissue, resulting in pericardial mesothelioma. As tumors press against the heart, you can suffer from symptoms such as arrhythmia, chest pain, and coughing.

Lastly, testicular mesothelioma is a very rare form of this cancer that attacks the cells lining the testes. Because of the lack of cases of testicular mesothelioma, doctors do not have an established set of signs for this cancer, besides lumps and swelling of the scrotum.

Regardless of your type of mesothelioma, you should make sure that you are fully informed regarding this disease so that you can make a knowledgeable decision regarding your treatment. Types of Collapsed Lungs

Your lungs are the site of exchange for oxygen to enter the bloodstream and carbon dioxide to exit. Tiny sacs called alveoli perform this exchange. There are two types of collapsed lungs which depend on the site of the collapse.

Asbestos Mesothelioma Resource: Get to Know It

For those of you that have no idea what mesothelioma is; or at least knows that it’s a type of cancer but would like to know more about it, this article on asbestos mesothelioma resource will attempt to inform you as much as possible. This disease may not be popular but it certainly destroys the lives of people who have mesothelioma and his or her close friends and relatives.

Causes

To start, mesothelioma is caused by exposure to a mineral called asbestos. Fortunately, not many people are at risk of the hazardous asbestos compared to other toxic material. Even so, according to the AJRCCM 1.3 million people are still vulnerable to poisonous asbestos.

These are the people who are most susceptible to be exposed to asbestos and obtain either pleural mesothelioma or peritoneal mesothelioma:

• Workers in mines of asbestos extraction

• People who work in the trade industry

• Workers at shipyards

• Manufacturers of Asbestos products

• Workers in the construction industry

• Workers in heating industry

• Family and friends of all of the above

The depressing part of it all is that getting mesothelioma isn’t your fault, but because of negligence from the owners of these mines, shipyards, construction sites, etc. In the past these people have failed to implement safety measures and the consequences are being paid by everyone involved. The workers because of the illness and the owners because of all the compensation money they have to pay for every mesothelioma lawsuit they have had in the years.

Asbestos and the Law

Asbestos mesothelioma legal claims cost around 0 billion in the US. It is relatively easy to win a mesothelioma case because of the implications on how you obtained the disease. However, you must take into account that these people have had thousands of lawsuits throughout the years and they hire the best legal sharks out there. So it must be noted that they have techniques to drag and setback as much as possible the lawsuits.

After certain events in his life, Ermenegildo Billar has dedicated years of his life to understanding and helping people with the malignant mesothelioma. For your comfort he decided to create www.infothelioma.com so you can have easy access to his research.
