Statistics on asbestos diseases show the odds for living more than a few years after diagnosis of the cancer are slim. But some people beat the odds.

Mesothelioma patients know death is imminent – with or without cancer. But statistics on the incurable nature of mesothelioma brings the fearful immanency of death too close for comfort. Early cancer diagnosis improves the chances of eradicating asbestos-instigated tumors, but most doctors will still testify that the chances of eradicating the disease after diagnosis at any stage is slim to none. The cancer cells simply grow back.

For some asbestos cancer patients, the statistics ring true. For a select few, the statistics on mesothelioma and asbestosis made them fight harder to live – driving an insatiable desire to learn every medical term and every treatment option, along with the details and outcomes of clinical trials and medical experiments that were constantly evolving around the world. Drive and logic mixed with faith and luck – and maybe mixed with a few good genes and excellent medical care – added unprecedented months and years onto the lives of a lucky few.

Paul Kraus, a current author on surviving asbestos-related cancer, has thus far lived ten years since recovery – he credits his research, diet and alternative treatment choices. Karen Grant, a current broadcaster on surviving cancer and one of the youngest mesothelioma patients, has had her tumor completely removed and no longer undergoes chemotherapy. Jodi Page, another young woman, has also been free for years after a lung removal. Richard Archer, a former asbestos worker, was originally told he would never see another Christmas. He got the greatest Christmas gift of all – living to see years of more Christmases without chemotherapy.

Clinical trials are responsible for many life-saving and life-changing events. Karen Marcum, 65 was saved by a virus therapy, Bunny Morrow, 72, credits gene therapy to saving her from the deadly asbestos disease. Stephen J. Gould, a well-known Popular Science magazine contributor, biologist and historian lived 20 years past his mesothelioma diagnosis. Craig Kozicki, a chemical engineer was diagnosed in 1998 at the age of 42. He is alive and well today, almost ten years later, sharing his story to give hope to patients who are shrouded in darkness with the bleak statistics of survival rates. Librarian Bonnie Anderson was diagnosed in 2001 and is alive and active today. Kendra Ferreira, an artist and mother of 3, was diagnosed around the same time. Although tired, she is caring for her family and working today. Everyone does not die from mesothelioma.

In all the survival stories, patients did not limit themselves to one prognosis, one treatment method, or one opinion. Heavy research was done, multiple doctors were questioned and multiple treatments were evaluated. The patients faced obstacles with family, health insurance and finances – yet they continued seeking original and alternative ways to finding solutions to their problems. Family support, support from strangers, fundraising and benefits contributed to many success stories. Hope contributed to all – and today these survivors continue to share their stories for the benefit of other cancer patients. What is original about these stories? Not all of these patients were exposed to asbestos. Some success stories are from women substantially younger than classical textbook cases, yet others are a prime example of a classical case of the asbestos cancer.

Mesothelioma is not always fatal – years can be added on to the months of the original prognosis. The disease is rare. It is not easily discovered. Most doctors have not experienced first-hand diagnosis or treatment of a mesothelioma patient. The patient must take their life into their own hands and direct their treatment. They must be strong in a time of searing depression and despair. There is hope and there is a chance to shun statistics and live the life that was meant to be. Just stop searching for statistics, and start searching for solutions.

Asbestosis-Mesothelioma website provides <a

Once symptoms appear, your treatment options are greatly reduced. Early diagnosis is the key to prolonging life and increasing the quality of life.

What is Mesothelioma?

• The thin cellular layer that lines our body’s internal organs is known as the mesothelium. Mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer, which occurs in the mesothelium.

• Usually, this type of cancer is concentrated around the patient’s lungs, in the pleural tissue. This type of Mesothelioma is known as Pleural Mesothelioma, and it accounts for 70% of all diagnosed cases.

• Mesothelioma may also appear in the peritoneum (the lining of the abdominal cavity), 25-30% of diagnoses are of this variety.

• When Mesothelioma occurs in the pericardium (the lining around the heart), this is known as Pericardial Mesothelioma. This is the most rare form of the disease and occurs in less than 5% of all cases.

What are the causes of Mesothelioma?

The overwhelmingly primary cause of all varieties of Mesothelioma is exposure to asbestos. From the late 1800′s until very recently, asbestos was a fundamental resource for building materials. This means that people involved in the building process, plumbers, carpenters, and electricians, are the highest risk group for exposure. It is also believe the asbestos fibers which cling to clothing may also have exposed anyone doing the laundry of an exposed worker.

Unlike lung cancer, tobacco smoking does not cause Mesothelioma; however, smoking tobacco does seem to increase the risk or someone who is exposed to asbestos to develop Mesothelioma.

What are the symptoms of Mesothelioma?

Unfortunately, there are virtually no early symptoms of Mesothelioma. Once symptoms do appear, the disease has already progressed to a dire point. For this reason, anyone who has been exposed to asbestos is best served by preemptive x-rays to check for any sign of the disease.

Later Signs of Pleural Mesothelioma:

• Difficulty swallowing

• Night Sweats

• Unexplained Weight Loss (of greater than 10%)

• Fever

• Fatigue

• Chest Pain

• Difficulty, or Pain with Breathing

• Possible Lumps on the Chest

Later Signs of Peritoneal Mesothelioma:

• Night Sweats

• Fever

• Unexplained Weight Loss

• Abdominal Swelling (possibly with pain)

• Anemia

• Fatigue

• Constipation or Diarrhea

• Nausea or Vomiting

• Possible Lumps on the Abdomen

Later Signs of Pericardial Mesothelioma:

• Heart Palpitations

• Irregular Heart Rhythm

• Chest Pain

• Shortness of Breath (or difficulty breathing)

• Fever

• Night Sweats

• Fatigue

What is the treatment for Mesothelioma?

There is no cure for Mesothelioma. The treatment is the same as lung cancer: surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. There are also new cutting-edge therapies that are attempting to eradicate Mesothelioma. These include: phototherapy, gene therapy, and immunotherapy.

What is the prognosis for Mesothelioma?

While treatment does increase one’s chance of a prolonged life, as well as possibly increasing one’s quality of life, in 2006, the five year survival rate for all persons diagnosed with Mesothelioma, was a mere 5%.

For more information on Mesothelioma, visit <a

Currently, litigation has been developed in the Los Angeles Superior Court between ADAO and CBS Corporation, Planet Toys Inc. (manufacturers of the CSI Fingerprint Examination Kit) and several retailers for their involvement in the sale of the asbestos-tainted toy. Families affected by the contaminated toy should also consider developing litigation for the exposure of “substantial quantities of tremolite asbestos.”

The ADAO has also continued its testing of other products and found several containing asbestos, including additional children’s toys.

ADAO is an organization that utilizes volunteers, several of whom have either been affected directly by asbestos-related illnesses or have watched friends and family suffer from the diseases, including mesothelioma. The organization funds research that may affect public health, and the group acts as a watchdog for asbestos-tainted products or violations of asbestos policies, which have been set by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

What is Asbestos?

Asbestos is considered a human carcinogen by the federal Department of Health and Human Services and is a “naturally occurring, fibrous silicate mineral,” according to the EPA. Asbestos becomes deadly when microscopic fiber bundles bind and become airborne.

When inhaled, the results can be deadly and severely damage an individual’s body through the development of mesothelioma cancer. In addition to mesothelioma, asbestos can cause lung cancer or asbestosis, in which fibrous tissue scars the lungs.

Asbestos that was mined was used in an array of industries, according to the EPA:

* thermal/acoustic insulator used for fire proofing

* roofing and siding shingles made with asbestos cement

* textured paint and patching compounds used on wall and ceiling joints

* artificial ashes and embers for gas-fired fireplaces

* stove-top pads

* vinyl floor tiles, flooring and adhesives

* asbestos blanket or tape for hot water and steam pipes

* oil and coal furnaces

Asbestos-Affected Children’s Toys

Tracing asbestos can be a difficult process because it is often overlooked, especially since it is not a common ingredient in manufacturing products anymore, although, it was at one time. The ADAO has been testing thousands of products for the contamination of asbestos in toys as well as regular products. Currently, they have determined several toys to have had trace amounts of asbestos including:

* CSI Fingerprint Examination Kit

* Ja-Ru Toy Clay (found among three varieties of the product)

* Art Skills’ Clay Bucket (asbestos found in six colors of clay)

Additionally, there are several other products the ADAO found with asbestos traces that are not directly related to children’s toys, but could still affect a child’s health. One of the major concerns is use of talc baby powder on babies, which could contain small amounts of asbestos. Other products that have been found with asbestos contamination, according to the ADAO, include:

* Scotch High Performance and All Weather Duct tapes

* DAP Crack Shot Spackling Paste

* DAP 33 Window Glazing

* Gardner Leak Stopper

The organization also found that hair rollers, hot plates, powdered cleansers and small appliances were at risk for adversely affecting public health with asbestos fibers. The organization noted that these products are all being sold at national retail chains including:

* Wal-Mart

* Costco

* Toys “R” Us

* Home Depot

* Lowe’s

* Macy’s

* Bed Bath & Beyond

* CVS

Consumer Affairs, a Web-based consumer news and resource center, issued the following tips to assist parents, relatives and friends with purchasing toys for children, in order to better protect children from asbestos exposure. The list includes the following:

* Be a vigilant shopper and read all warnings that may include a toy breaking, containing small parts or fire and choking hazards.

* Read product reviews that are both done by independent panels and consumers.

* Research information on the most recent product recalls.

* Inspect toys; any toys that are broken should be thrown away.

* Research how, where and when a product was created.

What to do if Your Child is Exposed to Asbestos

If a child is exposed or even may have potentially been exposed to asbestos containing tremolite, it is imperative that medical assistance is sought immediately. Because of the nature of asbestos-induced conditions, if a child is exposed to asbestos and goes untreated as if everything were fine, they could develop mesothelioma cancer years later, which is why immediate medical care is advisable.

Because asbestos exposure among children is considered extremely avoidable, developing a lawsuit for damages incurred may be a necessary step. Victims should located an experienced mesothelioma attorney to learn more about developing a mesothelioma lawsuit.

Learn more about mesothelioma and asbestos-tainted products at http://mesothelioma.legalview.com or at http://www.LegalView.com/. An effort is being collaborated on by the International Cancer Biomarker Consortium (ICBC) to better address biomarkers as indicators of cancer types such as mesothelioma.

The large-scale effort is similar, according to the ICBC, to the Human Genome Project and uses an array of researchers from around the world to assist in studying the use of the the biomarkers. The Polytechnic study followed 119 individuals who had been previously exposed to asbestos; of these individuals, all exhibited increased numbers of biomarkers compared to individuals who were not exposed to asbestos.

What is Mesothelioma Cancer

Mesothelioma is a type of lung cancer that can develop after an individual is exposed to asbestos fibers or asbestos dust. After an individual is exposed to asbestos fibers, they may begin to develop cancerous cells on the interior lining of the lung. The cancer is often described as one of the only preventable forms of cancer especially since individuals are still being exposed to asbestos in America through improper cleanup and disposal methods. Asbestos can be found presently in an array of buildings including apartment complexes, homes, elementary schools, universities, hospitals and offices.

Unfortunately, individuals continue to be exposed to asbestos fibers because of its existence in many products implemented throughout the country, and because it is too costly to remove all asbestos by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), many remain at risk. Additionally, because mesothelioma cancer usually remains dormant for years, it becomes increasingly difficult to diagnose and to successfully treat.

Finding Help for Asbestos Related Conditions Like Mesothelioma

It is important that individuals who may have been exposed to asbestos to contact a medical professional immediately to assess and potentially diagnose their condition. If mesothelioma cancer is diagnosed early on a mesothelioma victim has a better chance of decreasing the risks of fatality commonly associated with the cancer.

In addition to contacting a medical professional it may also be important to contact an experienced mesothelioma attorney to learn about developing a mesothelioma lawsuit, which may result in receiving monetary compensation to pay for expensive mesothelioma medical bills.

The latest on mesothelioma can be found at http://www.mesothelioma-law-now.com or at http://www.LegalView.com/. Some of the common asbestos related diseases include:
•Asbestos lung cancer
•Asbestos warts
•Asbestosis (may develop into fatal cancer)
•Diffuse pleural thickening
•Fibrosis
•Malignant mesothelioma

Can I sue for compensation if I have mesothelioma?

Yes, you can. You will likely be suing the manufacturers of asbestos products, but each case is different depending on how you were exposed.

Should I hire a mesothelioma lawyer and what should I look for?

Yes, it is best to hire a mesothelioma lawyer who specializes in these types of cases, as mesothelioma lawyers are experts in asbestos exposure and the related diseases. The lawyer’s team of investigators can track down the cause of your exposure and find the companies that are responsible. You should not hire just any other type of lawyer.

I was exposed to asbestos in the Navy-can i sue the military?

No, your can not sue the military nor the Navy. The companies that produced the asbestos-laden materials are responsible for resulting illness, not the government or the military.

What factors determine the level of compensation in mesothelioma cases?

There are many different factors that determine the amount of compensation you might be entitled to. Some of the major factors will include: the medical expenses incurred from illness; lost wages from inability to work; pain and suffering; the state laws; and the companies that are responsible for exposure.

Is it every case that goes to court? Or are there some cases that are settled out of court?

Many cases never go to court because the companies settle before trial. Each case is unique and there is always the chance that your case may need to go to court.

Is there a time limit for filing a mesothelioma lawsuit?

Yes, each state has a statute of limitations for how long you have to file a mesothelioma lawsuit. The best thing to do is hire a mesothelioma lawyer and file a case as soon as you are diagnosed.

In what jurisdiction will I file my mesothelioma lawsuit?

That will be decided by you and your mesothelioma lawyer once he or she has the important information about your case. The jurisdictions for filing may be plentiful and the decision is one that can impact the outcome of your case. Talk to your mesothelioma lawyer about which jurisdiction is best to file your claim.

I don’t know where I was exposed to asbestos-can I still sue?

Yes, even if you don’t know where you were exposed to asbestos, you can still sue. Your mesothelioma lawyer and their team of investigators will work hard to pinpoint the place or places where you were exposed to asbestos and which companies are responsible for those products.

If I file my mesothelioma lawsuit out of state, will I have to travel?

No, you will not have to travel. Your mesothelioma lawyer will come to you to perform an interview, record your deposition, and will go to court on your behalf.

Does smoking cause mesothelioma?

Smoking does not cause mesothelioma. If you are a smoker and you have mesothelioma, you can still launch a mesothelioma lawsuit. Smoking however limits the chances of survival of a mesothelioma patient.

Who is at risk for developing this kind of cancer?

Workers in the following occupations and workplaces are at risk for developing mesothelioma or another asbestos-related disease:<br

The data was collected during the time period of 1992 to 2002. Of the patients, approximately 89 percent were of the Caucasian race while only 6 percent were African Americans. According to the research, “black patients recommended to surgery had lung resections less frequently than white patients.”

The report found that as long as African American patients received “recommended appropriate treatment” the disparities shrank considerably, however, that has not been the case thus far, according to a Science Daily news article. Scientists were only able to speculate as to why the disparities occurred between the two races, but reasoned the following differences may be occurring:

* patients may be less inclined to undergo surgery

* patients may be have limited access to appropriate care

* patients may be less likely to visit the physician

However, if these patients had received a proper adjustment or treatment, then “no significant association between race and death” would have occurred, according to the news article.

Lung Cancer Causes

While the Oncology Channel notes that tobacco smoke is responsible for “80 percent of lung cancer deaths in men and 75 percent of lung cancer deaths in women,” there are a significant number of other risk factors that can lead to an individual’s diagnosis of lung cancer. Several risks commonly associated with this include the following:

* secondhand smoke

* asbestos

* radon

* occupational exposures

* age

* race

* sex

* hereditary

It is imperative that in order for a lung cancer patient to receive the best appropriate method of treatment that he/she contact a medical professional at the first signs and symptoms of their potential condition. The following are reoccurring signs and symptoms among lung cancer victims, according to the Mayo Clinic:

* hoarseness

* wheezing

* chest pain

* coughing up blood

* development of chronic cough, also smoker’s cough

* new cough that does not go away

Defining Mesothelioma

Mesothelioma is a deadly form of lung cancer that is caused after the inhalation of asbestos fibers and dust particles has occurred. The New Zealand National Occupational Health and Safety Advisory Committee reported that individuals working in the construction industry, or a similar field, are at the most risk for developing mesothelioma cancer:

* asbestos workers

* auto mechanics

* miners

* millers

* machinery fitters

* boilermakers

* firemen

* waterside workers

* railway workers

* construction workers

Individuals who have worked in any of the above fields or a similar work environment are advised to seek medical attention if any of the above signs and symptoms develop. Additionally, it is important that an individuals suffering from mesothelioma cancer contact an environmental toxin attorney to learn about developing a mesothelioma lawsuit.

It is often necessary to create such litigation as a mesothelioma diagnosis is frequently delivered with expensive treatment options and a short life expectancy. By creating a mesothelioma lawsuit an individual is increasing their chance of receiving monetary compensation as an award for their debilitating condition.

Individuals can obtain more information on the mesothelioma risks by visiting http://mesothelioma.legalview.com or http://www.LegalView.info/. Asbestos is a material which is popular composition used to build a building for it can add the building’s sound resistance, heat tackle, and electric and chemical damage resistance. It is known that exposure to asbestos as short as 3 months can trigger mesothelioma or tend to turn in to other serious disease such as tumor or asbestosis. In this case mesothelioma is the most dangerous case for its symptoms cannot be predicted before it is too late.

Mesothelioma happens because lungs cover is swallowing due to the deposition of asbestos that is inhaled by the suspect. Asbestos triggers lungs cover’s cells to develop malignant mesothelial plagues which then grows larger and contaminating the whole surface of lungs. In severe case, the mesothelial plagues can transport and develop in other vital organs and are also harmful. These mesothelial plagues then turn to be the cancer. As the lungs got stuffed with suspension caused by the cancer, eventually air circulation to lungs is no longer in order. The suspect begins to breathe shorter and develop continual cough. The deposition of fluid inside the lungs is also causing the suspects to throw out fluid frequently because his lungs keep producing the fluid. Other diagnoses include fever, anemia, weight loss, chest wall pains, blood cough, and fatigue. Most case of mesothelioma is hard to be diagnosed without a complete check which includes CT-scan, X-ray, biopsy test, or microscopic examination.

Causes of mesothelioma other than continuous contact with asbestos are hard to find, but it is likely that smoking can also trigger mesothelioma. People who are frequently smoking are vulnerable to mesothelioma because smoking can induce asbestos in some case. There is no case of mesothelioma which is not related to asbestos. Whoever in contact with asbestos, direct or not, are vulnerable to this malignant disease. Those are people who work around the usage of asbestos, which is the builder. There is lawsuit that protects workers from asbestos contamination. This lawsuit provides the builders who are with mesthelioma compensation that covers medication and live expenses.

Around 1945′s manufacturers preferred to use asbestos because it had proven that asbestos can add the resistances of the building to damage and guarantee a strong building. In the late 19th century many US builders were suspected with mesothelioma. In Cappadocia, Turkey, mesothelioma had caused 50% of death in as much as three small villages. Nowadays the US has limited the usage of asbestos and the Europe Union has banned asbestos entirely. Not only that it is harmful to the person who are in direct contact, asbestos might also indicating harm to person who is as close as washing the clothes of the person of direct contact with asbestos.

Mesothelioma treatments would include chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and sometimes also require surgeries. As it is hard to indicate mesothelioma symptoms, it usually is too late to know that someone has already with mesothelioma. This would make medications are more tedious work to be done because due to its malignant characteristic, mesothelioma is unlikely to be cured. Basic cancer medications which are known as chemotherapy and radiotherapy are aimed to kill the malignant cells but are not killing them all. Cancer will always grow and cloth the lungs with fluids and malignant cells. Surgeries are needed to remove the cancer and to flush the fluid that cloths the lungs. Additional surgeries will also be needed if the cancer’s cells have manifested in other related vital organs. This explosion of malignant cells causes the suspect difficult to be cured.

<a

The test is also useful for identifying which patients would be the best candidates for surgery, another treatment option for mesothelioma cancer.

The test works by identifying the ratios of four genes present in tissue samples of mesothelioma cancer patients and comparing them with samples of tissue from patients who have survived mesothelioma cancer for an extended period of time. The gene test proved to provide consistent and easily repeatable results across different research campuses. Despite different technicians using different instruments in different laboratories, the test showed a high efficacy rate.

The test was devised by Dr. Raphael Bueno, the Associate Chief in the Division of Thoracic Surgery and Director of the Thoracic Surgery Residency Program at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. Previously, predicting a patient’s prognosis was an invasive process; according to Dr. Bueno, major surgery was required to adequately predict the outcome. In the interest of creating a more accessible, less invasive, and accurately informative test, Dr. Bueno and his team looked to preexisting cancer tests. Specifically, the team looked at two gene-based testing methods that have been used in predicting breast cancer recurrence. Though this technology has not been widely used due to heavy logistical requirements, the inspiration provided enough incentive to help Dr. Bueno and his team develop what could be one of the biggest steps forward in accurate mesothelioma diagnosis in recent years.

The study announced in the JNCI was to determine how accurately the test predicted the survival rates of patients. Researchers examined samples of tissue from 120 mesothelioma patients and followed their cases until 2007 or until their death. Using the gene ratio test, researchers categorized the participants in two groups: a good outcome group, and a poor outcome group. On average, the poor outcome group survived 9.5 months; the good outcome group survived 16.8 months, almost double the rate of survival.

Since this test is so revealing about the survival rates of patients, it provides an opportunity for families and individuals to choose the best treatment option for mesothelioma cancer. Patients with good gene ratio test results could be more likely to benefit from surgery, while those in the lower survival rate group seek the best supportive care available.

Mesothelioma is often a very debilitating condition that may require large amounts of physical therapy and treatment options as well as require thousands of dollars in medical costs. It is common for many patients to discuss a mesothelioma lawsuit with an experienced personal injury attorney.

By contacting a mesothelioma lawyer, a patient is increasing their chances of receiving monetary funds as a compensation for the damages endured because of mesothelioma cancer. Additionally, a mesothelioma lawsuit may also result in the reimbursement of expensive medical bills as well as open the door for patients to receive costly medical care that they may have otherwise been able to afford or receive.

For more information on mesothelioma, visit http://mesothelioma.legalview.com for access to a wide variety or resources, including a mesothelioma attorney, a
Mesothelioma is relatively a newer disease and its causes have been under study for several years now. It is estimated however that every five out of six cases of mesothelioma are because of the patient’s unprotected exposure to asbestos. Asbestos was previously excessively used for the purpose of making construction materials, brake pads and plenty of everyday things but now, since other material have been discovered and are relatively less harmful than asbestos, one suffering from mesothelioma can sue the employer for having contracted the disease.

One other cause for mesothelioma other than exposure of the patient to asbestos is the genetic mutation of cells. According to most mesothelioma treatment centers, the causes for mesothelioma can be linked with the genetic mutation that converts healthy cells into cancer cells. These cancer cells multiply faster than normal cells and unfortunately do not degenerate at the same rate as do normal cells. Thus these cancer cells accumulate to form tumours which are capable enough to invade the tissues of the body and spread over wider areas. The collaboration of a number of factors appears to cause this genetic mutation and lead the patient to suffer from cancer mesothelioma. These factors include the environment of the individual who is suffering from mesothelioma, his overall health condition as well as the lifestyle choices he makes such as whether to smoke or whether to not.

Also as we know already, exposure to asbestos initiates this genetic mutation. When the asbestos fibers lodge in the lungs or other internal organs, the process of genetic mutation is initiated. About 2500 to 3500 people are diagnosed with mesothelioma cancer in the United States each year alone and most of these people have exposure to asbestos in their past. However even today the exact causes for mesothelioma is yet to be found and we realize how necessary it is to help fight the devastating state of the disease.

In the United Kingdom, large scale studies and experiments are being conducted to find out the causes of mesothelioma. Hopefully this initiative will help to find a successful solution to the problem of this vague disease. In a study that was conducted on animals, the Simian Virus (SV40) was understood to be the cause of mesothelioma. There were some vaccines during the 1950s and 1960s, especially some polio vaccines that were contaminated with this SV40 virus. However no definitive association between SV40 and mesothelioma has been discovered.

On the other hand, there are a number of cases of mesothelioma in people who underwent tests of X-ray imaging and thorium dioxide being used in the process. This is a reason why these specific X-ray tests have not been in use for many years now because a tentative association had been discovered between cancer and thorium dioxide. If you think that you may be suffering from a symptom that needs to be checked immediately because there are chances you might be the victim of mesothelioma, visit a mesothelioma treatment center as soon as possible for more information.

Author shares information on causes,symptoms,effects,risk factors,preventions,treatments, prognosis of diseases like cancer,diabetes,heart attack, obesity and also shares information on Mens health,womens health,sexual health, mental health, health and fitness, pregnancy,Blood disorders, Muscles, bones and joints, Health issues, and Weight loss

Article from <a

Although asbestosis is a health condition very serious, this is not a form of cancer. For an overview of asbestosis and its relation to asbestos-induced cancers, have a look at the symptoms and signs and define what asbestosis is.

What kind of disease is asbestosis?

Asbestosis is defined as a chronic condition. In its early stages it directly affects the lungs. The latency period can typically rather long and it is not uncommon that exposure to asbestos dates back more than 15 years before a patient is the first sings and symptoms of asbestosis. Unfortunately, a patient is diagnosed with a high risk of developing cancer disease (mesothelioma / lung cancer) to a point later.

Symptoms of asbestosis

Anyone who meets the following symptoms should consult and seek medical attention from a professional health care specialist: dry cough, pressure and chest pain, loss of appetite, rapid weight loss and the ‘breathlessness. Symptoms of lung cancer, for example, are very similar to a patient signs asbestosis. All these symptoms are not exclusively related to asbestos, in other words, everyone who meets one of the above signs will be diagnosed with a disease induced by asbestos. Asbestos exposure and cancer induced by asbestos Mesothelioma is the form of cancer that is directly and exclusively related to asbestos exposure. The cancer originates in the pleura, the outer wall of the lungs, and then gradually spread to other parts in the abdomen. Interestingly, mesothelioma is usually not diagnosed until about 25 to 30 years after the patient has been exposed to hazardous materials.

Treatments for Asbestosis

Asbestosis can be treated but not cured. The treatment of asbestosis depends on several factors, including the patient’s general health. A treatment may consist of radiotherapy, chemotherapy and surgery.

Finally, if we speak of asbestosis, mesothelioma or lung cancer, smokers are generally at greater risk of developing diseases caused by exposure to asbestos, as their lungs are considerably weakened by the to start smoking.
